What is it with mothers of single-sons and their natural affinity to new daughters-in-law? Ever since "the significant other" (referred to as She in the remainder of this post) has walked into my life (and more importantly my mother's life), life as I know it has seemingly turned itself upside down.

A brief background to this (emotional) outburst. I have always had this sneaking suspicion that my mother always wanted a daughter of her own and was all along waiting for me to get married just to pamper her daughter-in-law and do all those things with her, which she couldn't do with me (considering the natural limitations that me being a guy posed).

Now all of us have heard the term 'aam-aadmi' being thrown around like crazy by more than one political party, especially during election seasons. However, what most of us in big cities fail to connect with is the basic ground realities that rural India, where the real population of India lives and thrives in face every day.

Yet another thought provoking column from V Anantha Nageswaran (from livemint.com). In this article, the author talks about how financial institutions in America have become so greedy and short-sighted in their approach to making more and more money (not just for themselves, but for their CEOs and Traders and everyone else in the inner circle) that they have forgotten the very basics of investing.

All of us (or at least the ones who care just that little bit for whatever happens around us in society) would've surely felt a small warm feeling in our hearts last week when we saw or heard in the news that Child Labor in Developing Countries was finally being viewed as a serious issues by the 'power that be' (in this case, Gap, a leading apparel brand in the US).
